Operation Insights

Overview

Operation Insights is a data integration and operational strategy model that connects student support touchpoints across units to improve visibility, coordination, and decision-making. By organizing and activating student-level engagement data, Operation Insights enables institutions to more effectively deliver support, allocate resources, and manage student support teams.

This work establishes the foundation for AI-ready infrastructure by ensuring that data is structured, connected, and actionable in practice.

The Challenge

Student support in higher education is often fragmented across units, systems, and roles. Institutions collect large amounts of data, but it is rarely integrated in ways that provide a complete picture of how students engage with support services.

As a result, institutions struggle to:

  • understand how support is delivered across the student experience
  • identify gaps or redundancies in services
  • allocate staff and resources effectively
  • use data to inform real-time decision-making

Without coordinated, student-level data, it is difficult to scale support strategies or effectively implement AI-enabled solutions.

How This Work Is Different

Operation Insights is built within the operational realities of higher education. Rather than assuming ideal data systems or workflows, this work integrates existing structures and builds practical solutions that can be implemented and sustained by staff.

It focuses not only on data collection, but on data organization, interpretation, and use in decision-making. By connecting data to daily operations, Operation Insights ensures that insights translate into action.

This approach also prioritizes building the foundational infrastructure necessary for effective AI implementation, rather than applying AI tools in isolation.

Current Status

Operation Insights is actively implemented across multiple student support units at UCF, including Academic Success Coaching, the Office of Academic Advocacy, Career Services, Experiential Learning, and Graduate & Professional School Prep. The model continues to expand in scope and is being refined for replication across additional units and partner institutions.
